It's all soo gorgeous! I am interested in the blush stick [not highlighter], the starry violet eye shimmer duo, and black, maybe pink nail polish. The lashes look so cool too, but I can't justify the price. This collection, with the tough black accessories but also pastel colors is soo up my alley!! What are you looking at?

Majolica Majorca & Shu Uemura Spring 2010!

From Rouge Deluxe. (pics in the link) Majolica Majorca is releasing a limited edition foundation case, pore primer, 2 new eyeshadow palettes [that look quite meh in my opinion], a couple of nail polishes and lipglosses, a new mascara and mascara primer.

Shu Uemura--It looks promising. Not like I'd buy the entire collection but it does look pretty.

Collection consists of 3 variations of a duo cream eyeshadow (not packaged like Fall 2008 was, thank god), colors in taupe and light blue, gold-pewter and a lighter white, and a silvery color with purple. New false eyelashes, metallic black and silver gel liners [not sure if this is new or just repromo'ed], what looks like a twist up cream complexion product [a la Shiseido's rouge sticks] in a silvery highlighting color and a cooler raspberry color, 2 glow ons in M31A and M43B [they look like cooler colors], 3 lipsticks [of which one is PK322] and 3 nail polishes; light blue, light pink & a black with silver sparkles.


What I'm looking at: Complexion product in the highlighting color, the eyeshadow duo in taupe+light blue or silver + purple, & the black with silver glitter nail polish!

Swatches: Erika F Comparisions

When I was in Taiwan this year, I saw quite a few eyeshadows that I thought could dupe the infamous Erika F from Lancome. Of course, in the name of blogging, I bought the two that I saw: Shu Uemura ME471 and Art Deco 45. Here's how they stack up:

ME471: The most pigmented of the three, and the most olivey. I guess that's obvious because its named Olive ME471. Amazing buttery texture, and shimmery.
Ombre Absolute 144 Erika F: Super glittery and most green, and also lightest. This has probably the most issues with fall out, and its worst vice is because of all the glitter.
45: This looks hideously warm next to the other two, very bronze. It doesn't on its own, but now that I have this next to Erika F, it's nothing like 144.

So far, the closest dupe for Erika F is Shu Uemura number 471 but it doesn't have the glitter and more green / silver that Erika F is.

Review: Shu Uemura Primitribe Gel Liners

This is a reader requested review! I'm sorry that I haven't gotten to this until now, but I've been soo busy and tired :/. So I won't elaborate TOO much--if you have questions, I'll answer them in the comments. This will be a quicker read, because I've gotten feedback that readers don't like to do much reading and prefer pictures.

Price- 24USD for 2.8 grams or 0.098 oz. It seems like SO much money for the small pot, because Bobbi Brown's are 21USD for .1 oz and 3 grams. But honestly, shu owns you Bobbi, and I'm not just saying that because shu is god.

Consistency- Shu's is thicker than Bobbi's [which I'm using as a reference because it seems like many have tried hers] and creamier. The creamy texture of the shu as opposed to a more gel texture of Bobbi Brown's makes it easier to use as a cream eyeshadow--as the Primitribe eyeliners are supposed to be used as.

Colors: The primitribe gel liners are GORGEOUS. They are bright, they are rocking, they are perfect. This is what MAC aspires to be, what Make Up Forever does so well in matte finishes. I realize that most people won't wear this regularly [heck I think I've only used them a few times!] but I LOVE them. They're loud, and in your face, and obnoxious, but I love them! The colors Shu released with this collection are:

Spinel: Bright warm hot pink.
Turquoise: Bright medium blue-turned teal.
Citrine: Bright sunny yellow.
All of these are very pigmented and creamy.

Got creasing? Well, yes. I must note though that the actual gel liner product wasn't meant to be used all over the lid; just these colors were. Also, I was NOT wearing a primer, and if used like a regular eyeliner, these wear great on waterline and lid.

These are the only pictures I could pull up. I had a horrid camera--the pink is warmer, the blue is a bit warmer and more teal and the yellow is what I think of when I think 'lemon' yellow, but darker and more vivid. Delicious!

I like the packaging--but how creative can you get with gel liners? Glass pot, check. Black lid, check. Limited edition design on the cover, check. I really like the design though :D.

Overall, if you love brights, then you need these. They are a dream to work with and are beautiful. In my opinion, totally worth the 24$ price tag, and work fast--these are limited edition!

Side note: Spinel is an Asia only release.



* Another side note: To get it to show up to this intensity on my eyes, I did have to layer. However, I was using a brush that sheers the product out. I think I used three sheer layers.

What do I use to apply/blend these puppies? A brush like this! It says 6m sable on the handle but I'm really not sure if its available as it was part of a set. I think it could also be used as a lip brush, but I find it gives great control over the color.

Swatches: Shu Uemura Primitribe Collection Fall 2009

Shu uemura fall is now on counters in Taiwan, even though the stock is actually quite the mess with a only a few stores that have stock RIGHT NOW and even fewer with the complete collection. [Rolls eyes] Great job Shu for botching up another release.

I must say though that this COMPLETELY makes up for the stupid summer collection [and with special packaging too!]. I totally WANT those gel liners, yellow and turquoise have my name labeled on it!

Okay, the reviews. The gel liners are SO CREAMY and so richly pigmented its insane. Citrine [yellow] has slight shimmer that probably won't show up on the eye, Turquoise has more shimmer [but it still probably won't show up once applied] and Spinel is matte. They are so gorgeous, I keep swatching them every time I go past the counter.They retail for 24USD.

The lipsticks are pretty, but only the BG942 and WN297 are being released in the US. The US also has a color PK300 that Asia doesn't get. But all of these are extremely rich and creamy and pigmented--I have my eye on BG910 which is a bit sheerer in color [BG950S is also sheerer]. WN297 is not as dark as it looks in the tube [almost blackish!] and goes on much more purpley fucshia. One of these sets you back 23USD.

The cream sticks [not sure of the exact product name] are not that creamy, nor that pigmented. My SA said that they are supposed to be used as a base for eyeshadow or can be used alone for a translucent wash of color. They are available in four shades--Blazed Gold and Rich Earth also have some glitter in them. All are appropriately 'autumny'. They lasted a whole afternoon on my arm and didn't rub off on my purse or clothes, which I think is because of their drier texture. These are 700NTD which is about 21USD. Please note that Taiwan gets a bit of a discount on shu uemura and the US price may be slightly higher.

The nail polish is quite bright, a blue-based hot pink and I don't like it on my skintone because it tends towards trashy on me [probably because of the blue undertones]. If you like blue pinks though then a bottle will cost you sixteen bucks. Definetly use two coats and a top coat on it and it will last you quite awhile!

Lastly, the blushes. They are GORGEOUS. SOO pretty. Unique though....no. Probably not. But these are great quality and you get two colors [I think for contouring and regular blush] in the same compact for the price of one. [Wow I sound like an infomercial there--two for the price of one! I wish shu did buy one get one free ;-)]. These retail for 21USD. I will let the pictures speak for themselves as they are accurate! As with all shu blushes, these are buildable, glowy and pigmented. My favorite formula!

You read that right! Yes, beloved readers, you are getting a sneak peek at the newest shu uemura foundation! It sits in it's throne of simple white plastic, waiting for you to take the cap off and swivel upwards, dab onto your face and blend! It's the GOD of stick foundations, this amazingly pigmented and creamy holy grail waiting to happen! [That means, yes, so pigmented that I can easily see this as being used for stage makeup, with it's lovely creamy satin finish!]

I think the rest of the world [and US online] will be seeing this in roughly six months, as I had seen the Face Architect cream foundation here in Taiwan last summer and it was launched around January if I remember correctly. [For some reason I also want to say October, what the heck?]. And if I am right, that means that we can also be expecting a UV underbase fluid! :D. This retails for 1200NTD, which equals roughly 36.5 USD. Please bear in mind that Taiwan usually gets shu uemura cheaper than Japan or the US.

Also bear in mind that shu uemura only brings a few of it's foundation shades here into Taiwan. This is by no means the full line.

I'm not exactly sure why, but Shu Uemura doesn't carry the full colors of any of its foundation or base products in Taiwan. It's a limited amount--I suppose they took out the extremely pale, pink and dark, which isn't a very good tactic in my opinion--there's always going to be someone who isn't uniform! But here are pictures of it's new Powder Face Architect foundation--the shades caried in Taiwan. [P.S. I was NOT supposed to take pictures of these, taking pictures in department stores is strictly a NO].

So, Shu Uemura jumps on the gel liner bandwagon! And, even though they're quite pricey at 24USD, they are owning everyone else. Check out the unique, super pigmented shades that just LAST through everything!


I apologize for the yellow lighting, when I tried to take pictures of this outside it would cloud over and become gray! Bleh! These are very creamy, but dry down and become budgeproof. The metallic shades [gold, silver] tend to be...I'm not sure how to explain it, less well bonded together? I don't know. But every color is very pigmented and beautiful.

P.S. This is about 4 USD cheaper in Taiwan :)
