RIP Alexander McQueen

Such an influential designer, and far too young to leave us. I suppose the loss of his mother hit him hard. I hope he's at peace, wherever he is now. RIP!

IMPORTANT: URL & Name Changes!

Hi everyone! Because of the long URL and the name that isn't very unique, I think I will be changing both to La vie en beauté, French for 'The life in beauty'.

Hopefully the URL will be Lavieenbeaute.blogspot.com.
I hope you like it--Please remember to change your bookmarks!

Please also do not freak out when you see another blog name than what you're used to in your feed! :) I hope I don't lose any of my readers this way!

Quick Note

I'm very sorry for the lack of posting the past two weeks or so. Finals has just finished for me so I was studying the entire time--I really hope I did well. Rest assured, after I finish re-doing my room (I'm about 70% done at the moment) I hope to be hauling and blogging again!

Cheers! And Merry Christmas & have a happy New Year!

New FTC Rulings For US-Based Bloggers

As most of you may know, the US Federal Trade Commission recently ruled that, as of December 1 2009, bloggers who receive free products will have to disclose if they do so or not. I suppose this is to tell consumers to be wary of people who review free stuff very positively. More on the US FTC ruling here, at A Touch Of Blusher.

Anyways, the point of this post is for me to tell you all that I will always review a product based on it's own merit and not positively just because I got it for free. What would be the point in blogging, if no one took you seriously then? I don't want to become like most of those "Youtube gurus'' who have thousands of followers who think that those gurus have the Midas touch and everything they review is gold. No.

Some things will be bad. Some things will make me chuck them after first use. Some things will become my Holy Grail. Some things are just average.

And I promise to remain true.

It's magic! Revive me!

The title of this post doesn't seem to make sense hm? Don't worry, I hope to explain that very soon.

This, is MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator. Before this little experimental revival [courtesy of Alyheartsyou on MakeupAlley], it was plain thick black liquid. All the scrubbies had disappeared! [Please take this as a warning that if you buy VAE this time around, don't keep it in the shower! I suspect the heat and humidity had melted them].

Of course, when I discovered this, I freaked out and posted on Makeupalley about this. Well, Aly calmed me down when she said that I could simply add sugar to the exoliator and stir it with a toothpick, because that's what the original scrub particles had been made of.
Guess what? She was right! Simply add sugar until it gets to be that thick and 'rough' consistency--it'll be the sugar particles that you see
[here's a more accurate spi
Be warned, don't add too much sugar! Remember that it will settle at the bottom of the jar! I forgot this and ended up with quite alot of sugar at the bottom and the liquid almost overflowing--oops. :X. At least I won't have to worry about the scrubbies being melted for a long time!

And voila!
Has anyone else had this happen to your VAE? Will you be buying one this September 24th?
